The last couple of days have seen some weak thunderstorms over North Coastal Tamil Nadu in particular around the suburbs of Chennai.  On Tuesday some of the northern suburbs of Chennai recorded light to moderate rains while yesterday saw places around the southern parts of the city record moderate rains in the evening.  This phase has coincided with slightly weaker activity in the West Coast at the same latitude as Chennai. The last couple of days have seen an appreciable increase in day time temperatures over Coastal Tamil Nadu as Westerlies have strengthened under active monsoon conditions. The role of Bay Low Pressure cannot be ignored in this phase of strengthening Westerlies, especially in the context of increasing temperatures over Coastal Tamil Nadu. The Low Pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal has now become well marked improving the monsoon dynamics in the process.  The Monsoon Mojo is getting back on track which will increase the rainfall over West Coast and many parts of Central India under the influence of the intensifying Well Marked Low.  As the disturbance travels across land in a W/NW direction it will improve the moisture drag thereby creating heavy rainfall opportunities.
