Yesterday saw good rains in the areas near Namakkal, Theni, Tirukoilur and a few places in the Delta region. North Tamil Nadu saw a fairly dry day except for some rains over Arani / Kanchipuram. Few coastal areas in Chennai received passing showers early in the morning.

Tamil Nadu Weather – Wet Weekend Likely
Last night saw the North & Western suburbs of Chennai receive spells of midnight rains. Areas like Madhavaram, Puzhal, Anna Nagar got heavy spells of rains. Ennore Port recorded 14 mm while HVF Avadi recorded 11 mm.
Tamil Nadu Weather – Rains to Continue over Interior Districts
Last night saw heavy rains lash most parts of Western Tamil Nadu with areas around Dharmapuri, Erode, Namakkal districts. Mallasamudram in Namakkal district received 80 mm rains of which 79 mm fell in a 3 hour spell starting from 8 PM.

Dry Weather prevailed over most parts of Tamil Nadu except for some isolated thunderstorms in one or two places. Chennai had a fairly clear day as well with the early sea breeze keeping temperature under check.
