Subdued Weather in Tamil Nadu expected to continue for few more days

The current phase of subdued weather in Tamil Nadu which has possibly given one of the driest periods of Northeast Monsoon 2016 is expected to continue for a few more days as no immediate relief or rains expected as indicated by weather models.  Yesterday according to the daily rainfall report of IMD no place in Tamil Nadu recorded any meaningful rains to be included.  Similar trend is expected today as well. Is Tamil Nadu heading for poorest Northeast Monsoon in almost 150 years

As we get close to end of November the peak Northeast Monsoon month the current deficit for Tamil Nadu stands at -70%.  Against the normal expected rains of about 33 cms till November 24th the state has recorded only 11 cms so far.  With about 6 days left for November numbers to add up we are potentially looking at the worst Northeast Monsoon performance ever in the last almost 150 years. South India to remain under Dry Conditions

Most of South India remains practically dry for the past few days. Chennai Min. Temp Dips, expected to remain below normal for the next day or two

The last few days have seen the night time temperature in Chennai consistently come down due to reduction of cloud cover.  Last night saw minimum temperature dip by at least 1 degree compared to the last few days across the city with both IMD observatories and many private weather stations across the city seeing the coolest night in the last fortnight or so.  Places further away from the coast saw temperatures dropping more with the COMK Weather station in Anna Nagar recording 20.8°C as we type this post a good 1.5°C lesser than yesterday.
