East India’s turn to see Scorching Weather as Heat Zone moves East

The scorching weather prevailing over large parts of India has been setting new records on a daily basis.  Yesterday saw Nasik in Maharashtra reach the hottest March temperature of 40.3 recorded previously about 40 years back.  Banda in Uttar Pradesh, close to the MP border recorded 43.2°C making it the hottest March day ever for the town. Parts of West India though saw max temperatures slightly ease closer to the coast. As many parts of India celebrate Gudi Padwa / Ugadi to mark the beginning of the new year heat wave conditions continue to persist over large swathes of the country.  Yesterday saw Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh along with Churu and Phalodi from Rajasthan record their hottest March days. About 30 places in the country recorded 42°C or higher yesterday heat wave conditions persisted. In an indication of possibly the slight Eastward shifting of the heat wave zone Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh recorded the hottest temperature in India. Record Heat wave conditions prevail over large parts of India

The heat wave conditions prevailing over large parts of India continued yesterday as many places recorded highest temperatures for March.  The three hottest places in the country yesterday all recorded their highest ever temperatures for March while Jaisalmer and Nanded also were part of those places setting new records for March.  In an indication of how widespread the conditions were spread almost 70 places recorded 40°C or above yesterday.
