With SWM Onset firmly over Tamil Nadu, we saw the first instance of firm steering pattern, and the thunderstorms that formed in the western areas of Chennai not dissipate before reaching the coast. This resulted in early morning rains for many parts of Chennai, with southern suburbs enjoying the better share.

South India Rains to continue
With Cyclone Ashobaa moving away from the Indian Peninsula the rains have started to pick up again over South India. In a combination of thunderstorms triggered by instability and by moisture incursion from West coast many places have been receiving rains over the last couple of days.

The Depression over Arabian Sea is now “Cyclone Ashobaa” and is currently moving towards Persian Gulf. Thanks to Cyclone Ashobaa the Southwest Monsoon has established itself over the west coast up to Goa.

The low pressure off the West Coast of India has now intensified into a Depression and is expected to further intensify in the days to come.
