Chennai Summer gets ready for Overdrive with hottest day yesterday

Chennai Summer that started slow compared to the rest of Tamil Nadu has taken decisive steps over the last couple of days in getting into overdrive. Yesterday saw Chennai Airport almost touching 40°C, finally settling at 39.2°C.  The observatory in the city was not far behind settling at 36.7°C to end up a very hot day with both observatories recording their hottest days of 2016 respectively.  Similarly in the interiors Dharmapuri matched its all time highest April temperature of 41 degrees indicating how hot it has become off late with Sun now almost at the same latitude of Tamil Nadu. 2016 Hottest Day in Tamil Nadu Recorded, similar conditions to continue

Yesterday saw the hottest day in Tamil Nadu for the year 2016.  Karur, Vellore, Trichy & Tiruttani recorded temperatures in excess of 41 degrees while Salem, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Palayamkottai & Madurai recorded above 40 degrees.  In the above list except for Salem & Madurai all the other places have recorded the hottest day of 2016 so far.   Similarly both Chennai Nungambakkam & Airport observatories recorded their hottest days of 2016 so far with 36.6 & 38.8 degrees respectively.   The previous hottest day in Tamil Nadu was recorded during the month of March between 20th March & 23rd March Most [Read More]

Tamil Nadu Weather to remain Hot, Interiors to see Oppressive conditions

Slowly but steadily Tamil Nadu weather is shifting to the Extreme Heat mode with another day of state wide heating expected.  Yesterday saw Vellore, Trichy, Tiruttani & Karur record temperatures in excess of 40 degrees while Chennai Airport came very close to scoring a century (100F) first time for the month of April.
