Tamil Nadu Weather – Rains to Continue over Interior Districts

Last night saw heavy rains lash most parts of Western Tamil Nadu with areas around Dharmapuri, Erode, Namakkal districts.  Mallasamudram in Namakkal district received 80 mm rains of which 79 mm fell in a 3 hour spell starting from 8 PM.

Southwest Monsoon Update:After providing rains over the last week or so through the twin disturbances at either side of the country Southwest Monsoon has once again started to slow down over most parts of the country with Rains localized over Northeast India and Southern Peninsula. The Monsoon retreat could start once again in the next day or two and an fast retreat is on the cards for most parts of North India. Today the rains would be confined to parts of East & Northeast India thanks to the upper level trough over Sikkim & adjoining West Bengal region.


Southern Peninsular India is expected to have another active rainy day today as well with heavy rains expected over many places in the West Coast, particularly Kerala thanks to the UAC off Lakshadweep.  Central Kerala from Kozhikode to Kottayam region could get very heave spells of rains during the day.


With an evolving lower level LWD over Peninsular India the interior places are expected to get another day of heavy rains in a few places.  Today Bangalore & Mysore region in Karnataka could once again see heavy rains along with places near Anantapur, Tirupati & Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Last night saw heavy rains last Western TN, the same is expected today as well with places between Bangalore & Erode enjoying heavy spells of rains. Hosur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tiruppur & Karur are likely places to get these spells of rains.  Delta districts and parts of North Coastal places like Trichy, Pondicherry, Cuddalore is also expected to see possible late evening rains today.   In South TN apart from the places adjoining the Western Ghats places near Madurai & Dindigul could see a spell or two of rains.


Chennai Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies during the day with temperatures expected around 36°C.  Late evening / night could see isolated rains in a few areas as the winds start to become favorable for rains to reach Chennai.
