Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last Night saw many parts of Chennai receive moderate spells of rains.  While the day was hot the evening saw a firm sea breeze provide some relief and late in the night the spell of rains created a comfortable night for the citizens of Chennai.

Tamil Nadu Weather Update: July is expected to get off to a very hot start with moderate heat wave conditions expected to prevail over many parts of Coastal Tamil Nadu.  Today could see places like #Chennai, #Cuddalore #Tiruchirapalli #Madurai etc touch 39 Degrees and possibly one or two could see high 39s’ or low 40s.  As the afternoon turns into evening there is a fair chance of thunderstorms happening over a few places of North Interior Tamil  Nadu.  The districts of Vellore, Tiruvallur & Kanchipuram will get the heavier rains while isolated thunderstorms would be possible in the districts of Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Salem, Villupuram & Cuddalore districts and adjoining Pondicherry region.

Chennai Weather Update: Chennai is expected to see another hot day and it would not be surprising if Nungambakkam touches 40 today.   Sea Breeze could set in around 1 PM and is expected to be fairly strong bringing down the temperature towards the evening.  This strong sea breeze possibility is also providing a fair chance of thunderstorms to develop in the places adjoining Chennai with some decent rain prospects for coastal places around Chennai. Like yesterday night the rains could happen late in the evening or around midnight.

The monsoon expected to revive again over West Coast in the next couple of days thanks to the developing offshore surface level trough and the return of TEJ over Peninsular India.  The rains are expected to be primarily confined to the Konkan belt for the next couple off days and subsequently could increase in intensity over many places.
