Tamil Nadu Weather – Heavy rains Lash Many districts

Heavy overnight rains lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu with very heavy rains lashing places in Pudukottai, Kancheepuram, Villupuram & Madurai districts. Acharapakkam in Kancheepuram district has received more than 10 cm rainfall from overnight rains.

Southwest Monsoon Update: Monsoon 2015 continues to be parked near East & Northeast India. With a Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation developing off Bangladesh coast rains could continue in the region for the next couple of days.  Most parts of India would remain dry except for occasional spells of rains.

Kerala could finally get some rains from the evolving UAC off Sri Lanka coast that is creating a zone of instability over parts of Peninsular India through wind confluence.  This is expected to give heavy rains around the High Ranges region of Kerala along the Western Ghats.  Coastal Karnataka could also get some spells of rains from lower level moisture incursion

Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Overnight rains lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu with Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Pudukottai & Madurai districts enjoying very heavy rains.  Thanks to poor steering environment thunderstorms that developed moved very slowly dumping heavy rains all along. Rains are expected to continue today as well to most parts of Tamil Nadu.  Places around Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, Thanjavur & Chidambaram areas could get some heavy spells thanks to the zone of instability mentioned above.

Chennai Weather Update:  Partly cloudy skies during the day with temperatures settling around 35°C.   Towards late evening / night few areas in the Southern suburbs could get spells of rains.
