Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last night saw heavy rains lash the districts of Perambalur, Trichy, Namakkal, Salem & Karur Districts with Chettykulam in Perambalur district recording 117 mm rains while Yercaud near Salem recorded 101 mm rain till 3:30 in the morning.

Southwest Monsoon Update: Most of the country is now undergoing a dry spell except for occasional rains in one or two places.  Southwest Monsoon will retreat from North West India in the next 1 or 2 days. Today could also see a dry day over most parts of the country except extreme South Peninsula. But a low pressure expected to evolve near North Andaman could once again trigger the rains for East India depending on how it manages to intensify. Slide1

Parts of Southern Peninsula would continue to get good rains under the influence of the UAC in Central Bay.  South Karnataka around Chamrajnagar, Mysore, Madikeri & Bangalore could get another good day of rains while Wayanad & Kozhikode districts of Kerala particularly the areas adjoining Nilgiris & Chamrajnagar region could get some good rains continuing from yesterday.
