Cyclone Burevi traversing through Sri Lanka

Cyclone Burevi made landfall last night just north of Triconamalee and continued its journey over the Northern Provinces of Sri Lanka in a NW direction as it heads towards Palk strait and subsequently onto Gulf of Mannar. Heavy Rains lashed many parts of Coastal Tamil Nadu from Delta to Rameswaram which is likely to increase as the disturbance moves west.

Chennai & suburbs recorded moderate to heavy rains last night with weather models indicating on & off spells of moderate to heavy rains likely to continue for the next 24 to 36 hours depending on how the rain bands move in influenced by the Circulation.
