Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last night saw parts of Chennai receive spells of rains with heavy spells witnessed in North Chennai and areas around Nungambakkam.  The IMD observatory in Nungambakkam received 18 mm rains while Madhavaram received 16 mm rains. Even places like Avadi, Poonamallee also received good rains

The Depression over Arabian Sea continues to strengthen and is expected to intensify into a Deep Depression.  Under its influence rains are likely to continue over parts of Coastal Karnataka & Kerala.

The districts of Thrissur, Malappuram, Kannur & Wayanad could receive good spells of rains as thanks to the Depression climbing latitude the rains bands have again shifted back to North Kerala after giving good rains to South Kerala a couple of days back.  As the Depression starts to move slightly NW the impact on Peninsular India could come down.  Parts of Karnataka near Bellary and adjoining places of Rayalseema near Kurnool & Anantapur could see isolated spells of heavy rains thanks to convective thunderstorms expected to develop later in the evening

Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies at many places of Tamil Nadu with temperatures expected to be around 34°C in North TN while South TN could see temperatures around 35°C.  Towards evening thunderstorms are expected in a few places over the districts of Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri & parts of Tiruvannamalai.  As the evening progresses parts of Delta districts around Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Trichy could see isolated spells of heavy rains along with the North Coastal areas between Marakkanam and Nagapattinam with Pondicherry / Cuddalore in line to receive one or two heavy spells.
