Bay Low Pressure makes slow progress. Rainy day for Most of TN expected

The Bay Low Pressure continues to make slow progress as it now slowly moves over the Sri Lankan land mass in a Northerly direction.  While it continues to pack a punch despite being over land for almost now 24 hours it is likely to see a slight NE tilt as it tries to enter the open waters of Bay of Bengal.  Models continue to show huge divergence in tracks on what can be expected off this system.  Keeping in mind the ever evolving scenario we are providing an update on what is likely to be the events till end of the day today.

As mentioned there is a great deal of divergence on what could be the likely path of this Tropical disturbance.   Depending on where it evolves in the open sea the Bay Low Pressure could alter on its track and likely impact area.  But as things stand this system is likely to move in a Northerly direction and come close to Tamil Nadu Coast over the next 12 – 24 hours.  We will once again assess the scenario on how things are evolving today evening to provide further updates on the movement & Impact area.  16_5_2
