In what is a welcome development for Chennai Weather, the last few days have seen regular rains along North Tamil Nadu providing good rainfall to many places in Tiruvallur District improving the water table much needed for the lakes around Chennai.

Chennai Weather – Southwest Monsoon active over North TN
Chennai and surrounding areas received widespread rains last evening as well with areas in South Chennai receiving very heavy rains. Anna University received about 30 mm rains last evening.

Heavy rains lashed North Coastal Tamil Nadu in particular the places surrounding Chennai as expected. Places like Uthiramerur has got close to 70 mm rains with some late night rains adding to the evening spell of rains. Tiruvallur got about 50 mm of rains during the evening thunderstorms.

A few areas North of Chennai and areas around Poonamallee saw rains last evening while the city did not receive much except passing drizzle in one or two places
Tamil Nadu Weather – Hot Days to Subside
A few areas around Tambaram and south of Tambaram received some spell of rains last night, while to the North areas around Madhavaram received passing showers in the evening.
