While Interior TN sizzles, isolated rains continue over West Coast

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Interior TN continued to sizzle with Karur continuing to top the charts after recording 41.8°C yesterday as well.  Dharmapuri recorded its hottest day of 2017 touching 40°C for the first time this year.  Once again the usual suspects like Vellore, Trichy, Salem etc continue to see hot day time conditions.

Things are set to persist with a hot Sunday on the cards with interior areas of Tamil Nadu around North & Central TN seeing day time max hitting the 39 / 40°C mark at few places with Karur, Trichy & Vellore seeing the hottest day time conditions in the state.  things could slightly ease in South TN compared to the last few days.

Chennai and surrounding areas could see a moderately hot day with the suburbs like Meenambakkam setting at around 37°C.  The city observatory could record around 35°C while the western suburbs like Avadi / Tiruvallur could see a much hotter day compared to the city.

Wind convergence prevailing at about 0.9 kms above sea level is likely to trigger another day of thunderstorms along the West Coast with Kerala & South Interior Karnataka expected to get some decent mango showers.  The belt around Chickmagaluru, Hassan & Madikeri are in line for some heavy spells of rains in isolated places.  Similarly coastal AP and Odisha is also favorably placed for wind instability triggered rains later in the afternoon as Northwesterly winds mix up with the moist Southeasterly winds from the Bay.
