Well Marked Low Churns Slowly – South TN to receive rains from later today

The Well Marked Low Pressure Areas continues to churn slowly showing signs of development & organization under favorable conditions.  Currently lying over the Equatorial Waters in the Comorin Sea Area to the south of Sri Lanka it is expected to move in a W/NW  direction soon.  IMD expects the Well Marked Low to become a depression within the next 48 hours or so.  When it becomes a depression it will be the first disturbance of depression strength or stronger to have formed over the Arabian Sea since 1891.

As the low makes the Northwest turn towards the open waters of Arabian Sea it is expected to influence the conditions over South Tamil Nadu & Kerala with models indicating isolated rains to start from today over parts of Kanyakumari district.

While light rains may start from today over the extreme southern parts of India the rains are expected to pick up pace from tomorrow with more parts of South Coastal TN and Kerala seeing rains.  As things stand with the movement expected by models Kerala, places in Tamil Nadu along the Western Ghats, some parts of South Coastal Karnataka & Kanyakumari & Tirunelveli districts are best placed for rains.

Further updates as things evolve based on the movement & strengthening of the Well Marked Low.
