Isolated Rains likely in South Tamil Nadu

With the Trough of Low completely  moving away from influencing the weather over Tamil Nadu the rains have eased since yesterday with parts of Delta and Cuddalore districts recording moderate to heavy rains in the early hours of Thursday.  Today could see some rains over South Tamil Nadu with possibly one or two places along the Western Ghats in South TN could see isolated heavy spells as moisture migrates East to West

There is a slight possibility one or two places in Nagappattinam district could get a sharp spell or two of showers today later in the day but mostly even in Delta districts the rains will completely ease from today.  As the state gets ready for Pongal festivities with most people travelling back home they can breathe easy that rains are unlikely to play spoilsport to their travel plans today evening,

Cuddalore & Nagapattinam districts were the biggest beneficiaries of the current spell of rains under the influence of the Trough of Low.  Chidambaram recorded 15 cms from the two days while Kollidam was just behind with 14 cms.  Interestingly on both the days the heavy rains were a couple of hours affair around early morning for Chidambaram while Karaikal recorded 11 cms on Tuesday with well spread out rains for more than 12 hours in all.
