With the Well Marked Low moving up North the rains have eased over Chennai and surrounding areas since yesterday afternoon. Though the rains eased over North Coastal TN thanks to the movement of the Low favorable wind pattern over few parts of Interior Tamil Nadu brought in rains to places in Salem, Villupuram & Cuddalore districts. Kallakurichi in Villupuram Dt recorded 58 mm while not far away Vazhappadi in Salem dt recorded 52 mm.
Things look good for another likely rainfall opportunity today as well for some of these interior areas as a pseduo Westerly regime along with wind convergence in some parts of the state create conducive conditions. This pseudo Westerly regime is likely to bring in some rainfall opportunities to places in South TN along the Western Ghats as well. As far as Coastal areas go there could be some rains in the Delta region while North Coastal TN including Chennai could be relatively clear of any major rains.
As the Well Marked Low moves closer to the coast, North Coastal AP & Odisha could see isolated heavy rains in a few places with the rain bands progressively moving North along with the disturbance. The Low is expected to cross North Coastal AP / South Odisha in about 24 to 36 hours paving way for normalcy to return in a couple of days time with the Easterlies.
