Yesterday saw hottest day of the year get recorded in a few IMD observatories of Tamil Nadu. Places like Salem, Vellore, Tiruttani and Dharmapuri all recorded their highest temperatures of 2018. Except for Dharmapuri the rest three of the stations crossed 39℃ in the state along with Karur Paramathi and Tiruchirappalli Airport.
The next couple of days starting from today is likely to see temperatures notch up a degree or two across the state. Except for the narrow band along the coast and the higher altitudes of the ghats most parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to see temperatures cross 100°F.
In particular parts of North Tamil Nadu around Tiruvallur, Vellore, Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai could see isolated places touch 40℃ over the next couple of days.
The suburbs of Chennai are likely to see uncomfortably hot day time conditions under the influence of more Westerly winds during the early part of the day. Places like Avadi, Tiruvallur could record temperatures in the region of 39℃.
