The Low Pressure Area in Bay of Bengal now lying between Sri Lanka & Andaman Islands continues to churn along as it makes a slow West / Southwest Movement towards Sri Lankan coast. In the meanwhile as explained in our yesterday’s post another warm day awaits most of Tamil Nadu today as well.
In particular parts of West Interior Tamil Nadu around Karur / Namakkal could see abnormally high day time temperatures. Karur Paramathy for the last couple of days has been seeing day time temperatures stay about 4 / 5 degrees above normal and similar trend could be expected today.
With regard to the Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal it continues to develop as it moves in a W/SW direction towards Sri Lanka. As it moves closer to Sri Lankan coast the rainfall prospects for South Tamil Nadu will improve. While isolated rains along the Western Ghats could be expected to day in South TN the probability for more places to get rains increases from tomorrow.
While we monitor this Bay Low one needs to keep a watch also on a possible disturbance that could evolve around the Sumatra region. The current Low needs to its journey past the Sri Lankan coast before the disturbance around Sumatra makes its presence felt for South TN to get its share of wide spread rains.
